About OutThink
OutThink began with a critical thinking seminar for professionals with advanced degrees. During my 25-year career as a PhD economist and executive, I found that active, critical thinking is at the heart of effective communication, including papers, memos, meetings, and presentations. That first seminar was based on research, argumentation, and communication methods outlined in a series of book written by university professors Booth, Colomb, Williams, Bizup, and Fitzgerald. My primary goal was to share with my staff a taxonomy around these principles to enhance collaboration and feedback.
Beginning with that first seminar, I discovered my love of mentoring and teaching critical thinking. I continue to teach these skills as a mentor for the College of William and Mary Washington Center. Working collaboratively, my mentees and I apply these skills to their resumes and research papers.
I founded OutThink so I could share these skills and their application more broadly with students as they navigate the new technologies that are transforming their universities and workplaces.
